Between flood, criticism and pure joy
To start, this documentary shows you the search for river waves in Switzerland, the challenges faced and how it was figured out what it takes for a good river wave to run smoothly. It also shows how Swiss surfers gained a lot of experience abroad on the ocean and in Switzerland on artificial waves. And last but not least, it shows that maybe it's not just a coincidence that the Riversurfing Switzerland crew has escaped unharmed every time they surfed flooded river waves for over 17 years.
Furthermore, you'll learn more about some of the most common dangers you can encounter while river surfing. Some of the risks that seem obvious are actually not a problem, while other dangers can quickly become life threatening. It will be shown how to reduce these risks and that the guys of the Swiss Riversurfing Crew might have thought more about them than some critical newspaper articles of the last time would have you believe.
Finally, the documentary takes an in-depth look at the dangers of weirs. It shows that there is a great lack of understanding about weirs. Many accidents have occurred with normal swimmers and rafters, but not with surfers, and there is a good reason for that. It shows what to do if you ever get stuck behind a weir and what to look for when weirs have the potential to become a new surf spot.
